OMG, it's my ideal backyard that I want so bad.

The photo is wonderful, I love how the colour turned out on this. So this is what happends when you shoot with infrared, I would have expected something totally different.

Many, many thanks! This was actually one of my first shots I did in IR... I tried post-processing it with a variety of tones, but the cooler shades looked much better.
Thanks again!

The colors make it look cool, though. Very nice composition! And very zen. I like the ambiguity of what appears to be a small figure next to the water. :)

Thanks mate! I tried a few other variations within the channel mixer, but the purple/blue hues have been the most popular as prints so far!

That's just how the Fujis are! Just slap on an IR filter and hit the pavement...they're ready to go! My Canon EOS 300D on the other hand isn't so hot when it comes to IR... :(
Thanks for the comment and the :+fav:! Muchly appreciated!

no problem. do their lower-end consumer P&S cameras have a high IR sensitivity as well? I may have to pick one of those up, if I can get it cheap.

I know that quite a few of them do...there's a list circulating around the internet somewhere (I saw it just a couple of weeks ago...)
...but keep in mind that the results of each one is different.
There's a really easy test to determine whether or not a camera is IR sensitive...just hold a TV remote in front of the lens and push a few buttons. Look at your LCD (has to be via the LCD, not the viewfinder!)...if you see a flashing light coming from the little IR transmitter bulb at the top of the remote, then you can shoot IR! Now if only I can remember where I read that so I can give credit where credit is due....... hehehe

ya know, for as long as I've known of that trick, I actually NEVER tried it with our Sony F707...until after reading your note! I would use the camera's "night shot" mode, with its very limiting 1/60 at about f/2.2, with the IR "eyes" reflecting back from the backside of any IR or light-absorbing filters over the lens.

Considering I've had b&w IR in my bag of photographic tools since the early 1980s, and with the digital camera for 5 years, you'd think I *might* have thought of this a bit sooner?!

And they say "old dogs" can't learn new tricks...ha!

(thanks!)

Any time mate! It's a really handy trick for anyone with a point-n-shooter because it's so quick and simple!
Wow..I remember the F707 from several years ago! Actually, the gentleman who really inspired me to pursue photography was using the 707 at the time (but not for IR)...I think he uses a 1Ds MarkII these days... :D

This is really Lovely. I enjoy the the purple you've put in with PS editing the infrared. It really adds a great touch to the piece.

I really enjoy this subject a lot too. The whole Japanese garden is awesome. The bridge on the side works in harmony with the calm water. Just that little bit of sky that is more blue then anything else give the view a slight variation and allows us to not be comepletely over encombered by the garden's trees.

Great composistion, thanks for sharing it with us :aww:
